Two proposals for making energy saving measures were mooted at the annual London Energy Partnership in City Hall yesterday.
The London Wind and Biomass Study mooted the possibility of generating wind power at 25 locations in the capital, reports eGov monitor.
Combined with using biomass in combined heat and power units, it is believed that such projects could power over 116,015 homes in London and make a strong contribution to the mayor of London's renewable energy targets.
Another project which has been piloted in London has aimed to provide more resources to planners, engineers and developers, improving understanding of energy-related policy in the process.
David Green, Chair of the London Energy Partnership, said that reducing CO2 emissions was vital to London becoming a "sustainable world city".
He added: "The partnerships' wind and biomass study will help developers, planners and others to understand its potential. Such awareness is crucial."
