People who live in County Antrim are putting more effort into saving energy than those anywhere else in Northern Ireland, a new study has claimed.
The survey from the Energy Saving Trust found that more than £900,000 each year could be cut off residents' bills their if they stick to their word, reports the BBC.
Such savings could equate to the total bills of 1,000 properties on an annual basis, it stated, as climate change warnings were heeded by 103,000 homes in Northern Ireland in total.
Head of the Energy Saving Trust in Northern Ireland Noel Williams urged consumers to think about the environment because they could see the positives financially.
"If everyone in Northern Ireland who committed honours their promises, collectively they will save around £2.7 million a year, which is enough CO2 a year to fill 110,000 double-decker buses, nearly 19,000 tonnes," he commented.
Some customers find it hard to change their energy suppliers because information is difficult to understand, a recent report from the National Audit Office stated.
