Action is to be taken by charities who think that the government has not done enough in the bid to stamp out the number of people who struggle to pay for fuel.
Both Help the Aged and Friends of the Earth have stated that the authorities could do more to solve fuel poverty and that a plan has not been developed to do this, reports the BBC.
Friends of the Earth official Ed Matthew noted that the government's proposals have not been clear enough and that this has been to their detriment.
He claimed: "By failing to back the highest levels of energy efficiency in the homes of the fuel poor, the government has missed an opportunity to both end fuel poverty and bring down carbon emissions."
Together, the organisations asserted that the government does not have a "comprehensive" scheme in place to solve energy woes.
Recently, the Fuel Poverty Advisory Group stated that targets to eradicate those considered vulnerable in terms of fuel poverty by 2010 will not be realised.
