New campaign from British Gas

16 May 2008

A fresh advertising campaign is set to be created by British Gas this year after news of further energy rises.

The firm will attempt to display to consumers how they can be more efficient when using gas and electricity, reports PR Week.

Media Relations Manager at Centrica, which owns British Gas, Julian Mears stated that in a time when the general cost of living is rising, most products are more expensive than they once were.

He told the publication: "From a PR perspective, we need to provide a context. The cost of living is rising on a daily basis. What British Gas is doing is no different to other companies."

The company has entered into an agreement with the Institute for Public Policy Research to offer up data centred on the way consumers use their energy.

On average, energy prices in the UK could hit £1,327 by the end of the year, uSwitch said this week.
