It is expected that the government will warn homeowners they are due to pay for higher energy bills once more renewable power is used. Business Secretary John Hutton is to outline proposals to alter energy used in the UK and look at the shift to modern sources including wind power, reports the Times. Mr Hutton told the newspaper that £100 billion could be pumped into the new drive, although increased energy costs could be witnessed after 2015. "At the end of the day, we as consumers, we pay for the product. That's how it is," he commented. He added that some people will undoubtedly see the negatives of the switch, but that if the country is to progress then such changes are needed eventually. There is no "magic third option", the politician argued, with the natural environment in some cases being impacted upon. In related news, the Local Government Association has said that council services could go up in price because of the rising cost of fuel.
