Changing energy providers could help homeowners save considerable amounts of money, research shows. Findings from uSwitch.com show that with suppliers announcing price cuts, people can save themselves cash by simply shopping around for the best deal. Will Marples, Energy Expert at uSwitch.com, comments: "The key steps to lowering your energy bills are to move to dual fuel, pay by direct debit and sign up to an online energy plan." The expert believes energy-efficient measures can also help reduce costs, with consumers able to save up to £350 more than suppliers will give through price cuts. Statistics reveal the average household bill in January 2008 stood at £912, although increased to £1,293 in January 2009. In January, British Gas announced it will cut gas prices by 10% from February 19th 2009. Those looking for the best deal on their energy bills need to search online now.
