Energy customers 'still footing the bills'

18 March 2009

Despite recent price cuts, energy customers are still paying out more than they need to, it is believed.

Brand new research from uSwitch.com shows the bill to be footed totals £3.7 billion, with many of the price cuts rendered useless.

"While suppliers have reduced prices by £56, consumers could actually cut their own energy bills by up to £350 just by switching," comments Ann Robinson, Director of Consumer Policy at uSwitch.com.

She believes that people will be even more disappointed if energy prices start to climb again next year.

The price comparison site warns that the recent price cuts will "barely scratch the surface of fuel poverty levels in the UK".

Earlier this month, uSwitch.com made calls for people to save money by changing suppliers, adding that there were savings of over £300 to be made.
