UK homeowners are turning to more energy-efficient means of running their homes in a bid to reduce gas and electricity costs, it is shown.
New research conducted by uSwitch.com suggests 78% of homes are now more energy-efficient than they were a year ago, with 36% admitting the change is due to high fuel bills.
Of those questioned, 9% believe environmental concerns are the main reason for the change, while 43% see energy saving as a costly exercise.
Ann Robinson, Director of Consumer Policy at uSwitch.com, says there are a range of ways in which people can cut costs, which may include a "move to dual fuel, pay by direct debit and sign up to an online energy plan to save up to £350 on your annual household energy bill".
Using the price comparison site, people can search for the best energy package for their needs.
There are a number of renewable energy sources for consumers to choose from, including hydroelectricity, geothermal energy and biodiesel.
