British Gas slashes electricity prices

7 May 2009

British Gas has announced a 10% reduction in electricity bills for its customers.

Coming into immediate effect, it is estimated that consumers will be able to save around £43 a year due to the reduction.

Managing Director of the company Phil Bentley said: "British Gas is offering existing and new customers the cheapest electricity rates in the market place."

On average, the cost of an annual dual fuel bill stands at £1,127, which is at its cheapest for those who opt to pay in monthly instalments and by direct debit.

The slash in costs is said to have been made possible by the fall in the price of wholesale electricity.
