An innovative floor heating solution has helped a south London development pick up an award for eco-building.
The Myson screeded underfloor heating (UFH) solution was installed as part of the Earthdome Project, a four flat development in south London, by Dormy Heating Solutions.
The flats use a ground source heat pump to supply hot water and heating, enhancing the building's energy efficiency and reducing its impact on the environment.
"Everything used in the Earthdome has been used successfully before, but to the best of my knowledge this is the first time that the components have been combined in this way," said Bob Harris, the founder of the Earthdome Project.
"The project was created to demonstrate that it can be both practical and cost-effective to construct living environments that have minimal impact, yet still provide a modern and fashionable lifestyle experience."
Don McDonald, from Dormy, added: "With fuel costs continuing to climb, energy efficiency needs to be high on everyone's agenda."
The building has received recognition from the government as energy minister Malcolm Wicks visited the project, citing it as an example of good eco-building.
