Elderly people are being urged to apply for their winter fuel payments now to ensure they stay warm this winter.
The Department of Work and Pensions has advised older people to get their applications in for extra help with paying their bills as soon as possible to avoid feeling the cold later.
According to government figures, over eight million people are set to benefit from £200 worth of winter fuel payment in the coming months.
Furthermore, households with someone aged over 80-years-old receive £300 in winter fuel payment.
"Older people shouldn't have to worry about heating their home," Minister for Pensions Reform, Mike O'Brian said.
"We don't want anyone to miss out on the help they are entitled to.
"If you haven't received the payment automatically, but have had a change of circumstances since last years' payment, must contact the Pension Service to ensure their payments continue," he added.
Applications received before September 21st 2007 will receive their payment in time for Christmas.
