The UK's largest energy provider, British Gas, has launched a new scheme aiming to keep vulnerable people warmer this winter.
Joining up with six north London boroughs, the gas and electricity provider has launched a 'Warmth and Comfort' scheme to improve energy efficiency in the area's homes.
Using £6 million of funding, free insulation and improved heating systems will be installed in many households - cutting energy bills and carbon emissions.
Stuart Margerrison, Head of British Gas' Housing Services Group said: "This scheme will deliver significant benefits to improve the efficient heating of people’s homes.
“As a leading installer of central heating and energy efficiency measures we are committed to using our expertise to help improve the warmth of homes this winter."
Lynne Hillan at Barnet Council - one of the participating local authorities - added: "This initiative will not only improve quality of life for many residents but also have a positive effect on our environment."
The Warmth and Comfort scheme is set to target pensioners, low-income families and disabled people living within the six boroughs.
British Gas hopes to insulate 5,000 lofts and install 900 new boilers under the scheme.
