The recent announcement from the Government that it would take action to improve energy efficiency for vulnerable groups has been welcomed by the National Insulation Association (NIA).
Over 70s and low income families will be entitled to receive free home insulation improvements under the scheme - which, it is hoped, will make homes warmer, cut bills and help the environment.
The scheme forms part of the government's Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) programme, which aims to slash carbon output by 20% for 2020.
Recently, Prime Minister Gordon Brown also committed the UK to cutting emissions by 60% for 2050 - necessitating further improvements in UK home energy efficiency.
Chief Executive of the NIA Neil Marshall commented: "The Government has released targets for insulating properties for people aged 70 and over.
"These, along with low income households, will all be eligible to free insulation of their property: this is great news."
CERT comes into effect in April.
