Having an efficient central heating system that works as economically as possible can help households save on their heating bills, it has been claimed. According to a report in the Express & Echo, families should plan ahead for the colder winter months when their heating systems will be used most frequently. The newspaper claims that by turning the central heating down by just one degree, consumers could shave as much as 10% off their heating bill. And it adds that having boilers serviced regularly to ensure they are working to maximum efficiency is a shrewd move. Most heating cover policies include annual boiler servicing. Buying a new condensing boiler is recommended for those whose existing boiler is over 15 years old as it will be much more energy efficient and cheaper to run, the publication states. According to the Energy Saving Trust, a condensing boiler could save families around a third on their annual heating bill.
