Electricity is likely to overtake gas as the heating system of choice over the next ten years, according to heating industry groups. H&V News reports that contractors expect to be installing more electrical heating systems than gas in a decade's time. The Association of Registered Gas Installers told the website that gas boilers are increasingly being replaced by electrical alternatives. It put the trend down to soaring gas prices, which are rising at a faster rate than electricity and are leading to large energy bills for heating cover customers. "There is going to be a big revolution in the heating market over the next ten or so years and a shift away from gas to electricity and green energy has implications for industry," said Bob Towse from the Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association. All six of the major energy providers have put up their gas and electricity prices for the second time this year and gas has seen a bigger rise than electricity in all cases.
