As from yesterday, consumers in the UK can now make long distance, fixed line to mobile and international phone calls for next to nothing.
The offer is the latest product emanating from the partnership between internet telephony firm Skype and Wi-Fi hotspot provider Broadreach Networks.
The deal permits Skype users to make free Skype calls in 350 ReadytoSurf fixed and Wi-Fi wireless Internet locations throughout the UK.
Skype's co-founder and chief executive Niklas Zennstrom also revealed that users wishing to make the free net calls wouldn't even have to log onto Broadreach's network before dialling.
"It's a burden to log on," Mr Zennstrom commented. "We want to make it work so the service is available right out of the pocket."
The chief executive added that the partnership hopes to extend operations throughout Europe to further enhance the ability of Skype's 28 million users to make cheap calls.
