The chief executive of leading UK home telephone supplier BT is expected to come under fire later this week from ministers about the British fixed line market.
Ben Verwaayen will face a series of intrusive questions from a panel of MPs as he attempts to stave off the discussed break up of the leading telecoms company.
According to the Telegraph today, Mr Verwaayen will outline details of the firm's potential strategies whilst dealing with concerns over proposal to "ringfence" BT's local network as a stand-alone unit.
This move would reportedly help establish a more equal market but regulator Ofcom has stated it is far from convinced.
The Trade and Industry Select Committee has already taken receipt of complaints filed by other telecoms firms about the actions of BT over its unfair competition market.
The hearing could have severe repercussions for BT potential leading to involvement by the Competition Commission to reduce its dominance.
