IP telephony is expected to assume a central role at the world's biggest technology and telecoms trade show CeBIT in Hanover, Germany over the next two weeks, reports suggest today.
Highly anticipated trends such as VoIP and Wi-Fi will dominate the event, according to Reuters, which has a tradition of introducing some of the most advanced telecoms technology available.
Dozens of companies are expected to introduce devices to enable free phone calls making use of Internet advances, all of which contributes to what experts are labelling as the imminent 'telecoms revolution'.
Leading specialist VoIP company Skype has confirmed it is definitely to exhibit new phone technology as have Siemens, Motorola, Good Way Technologies and Greatwall Infotech.
Reports also suggest the first VoIP run payphones could be showcased, along with announcements to offer WiFi on trains in Britain and Germany.
