Drive begins to refashion home phones

9 March 2005

The home phone market is set to undergo something of an image revolution as part of attempts to safeguard the traditional means of communication from becoming obsolete in the face of advanced technological telecoms breakthroughs.

Reports have confirmed today that Swedish phone designer Doro has become the first firm to introduce its new range of practical novelty home phones into the UK with the intention of persuading consumers back to using home phones.

The range of home phones include the IF Design Award Winner of the Year 2004, the Doro 820, a pocket format cordless home telephone available in a variety of colour options including red, metallic, blue and metallic silver.

Also showcased are the "out of this world" stylish Doro 331 Pendant home phone and the Doro 850 Colour.

All these home phones comprise mobile technology and features, such as varying ringing tone options, extensive phone book memories and hands-free speakerphone.

Designers are confident that the new era of home phones will compete with the advent of VoIP technology and the ever-increasing popularity of mobile phones.
