Wanadoo does cheap phone service

10 March 2005

British ISP Wanadoo has become the latest provider to offer a new cheap phone call service through voice-over-IP technology.

Following market trendsetters Vonage and Skype, the France Telecom-owned ISP is offering an exceptionally good value phone service that is likely to only improve as technological telecoms advances become ever more regular.

The new Wanadoo Wireless and Talk service is being offered at just four pounds per month and includes unlimited calls to any UK landline at no additional charge during evenings and weekends.

The service also offers free calls to other Wireless and Talk users throughout the day.

Customers obviously need to have a broadband Internet connection but must also possess a Livebox hub connected to a standard telephone to utilise the new service.

Of Wanadoo's 9.4 million Europeans customers, 46 per cent have broadband access and as this proliferates, people will find it "second nature" to use a variety of communications services in the home, according to Wanadoo UK's CEO Eric Abensur.

Compare home telephone suppliers and save an average £170 a year.
