Internet telephony group Skype has today signed a high profile agreement with TDC Song that should allow firm to increase the accessibility of its cheap phone call service onto a global network.
The agreement will also see the provision of call termination services and numbering allocations for Skype premium offerings and will help challenge the likes of Cable and Wireless for the UK's newest and most radical phone calling option.
Niklas Zennstrom, Skype's CEO and co-founder commented "Skype offers global reach and worldwide accessibility for our users, and partnering with these carefully-selected carriers provides distinct benefits for our users who wish to interconnect with the traditional telephony network.
"Our carrier partners are the foundation of our premium services, and we are pleased to join forces with an expanding set of like-minded companies to maximize existing infrastructure to fully realize the potentials of Internet telephony."
Hanna Gronberg, director, carrier and wholesale relations at TDC Song added: "We are thrilled to partner with Skype to deliver new advantages for the millions of Skype users who are redefining what it means to communicate in modern times.
"Our partnership provides us new opportunities to grow our business by tapping Skype's global and growing customer base."
The agreement further reassures Skype's position as the pioneering global internet telephony provider.
