Growth in the use of broadband to make telephone calls is set for significant growth according to an industry expert.
Peter Hall, research director at Ovum, has stated that voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services will soon be incorporated into a wider range of uses, with increased accessibility for those at home and businesses.
"IP telephony has reached the mainstream," Mr Hall told the VoIP for Business conference, ZDNet reports.
"The technology is robust. The number of vendors is considerable."
VoIP technology has the potential to lead to cheaper phone bills, as it is capable of providing cheap and sometimes free phone calls.
