Phone VoIP and email come together

14 June 2005

A new communications product bringing together voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone technology and popular email packages, has been introduced to Britain.

e-phone, developed by Media-Streams, converges telephone functions into home email packages such as Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes.

There are already an estimated 15,000 people using it across Europe, and the e-phone is an important step towards simplifying home and business communications.

According to Mark Abler, of F1 Consultancy, the e-phone's benefits include "simple operation and the ability to make telephone calls directly from PCs without the requirement for any telephony infrastructure".
