New home telephone handset released

7 September 2005

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider Skype has released a new telephone handset, which means making home telephone calls is now easier and more stylish than ever before.

In a bid to counter "soulless" new technology, Skype has teamed up with Hulger, a London-based company, to deliver the retro-looking P*Phone, which can be plugged into a computer for VoIP internet telephony.

In questioning why technology "must always look forwards, never backwards", Skype has provided a traditional touch to its radically new service.

The P*Phone, one of the great "retro phones of the future", comes with the new Y*Cable which can be plugged into a computer, as well as adaptors for mobiles.

From September 5th to 12th only, the Skype Accessories Shop is offering the P*Phone at a special discount price of £40 instead of £48.
