Save on home telephone bills

5 October 2005

With prices going up and the economy slowing down, fixing your finances is more urgent than ever before, says the Daily Mail.

The newspaper recommends switching utility and home telephone provider or package in order to freeze your bills and save money.

"The peace of mind which comes from prearranging monthly payments can be more appealing to parents who need to budget for every penny rather than shopping around for the cheapest deal," the newspaper says.

There are several packages offering a fixed monthly charge for making unlimited calls to other UK landlines, the Daily Mail says, but it costs extra to call mobiles or overseas, as well as 0870, 0845 and premium numbers.

Chris Williams of switching service uSwitch.com told the newspaper: "More and more customers are opting for home phone plans which offer them unlimited calls to other UK landlines for a fixed fee.

"Some are even opting to 'bundle' other services onto their phone bill, such as broadband and digital TV, just so they can have the convenience of one monthly bill, even if it works out more expensive."
