Parents are paying about £70 a year for calls made by their offspring, according to a new survey by internet service provider Wanadoo.
The estimate excludes mobile bills and adds up to a total of £38 million a month throughout the UK.
With the advent of Christmas and festive school holidays, parents are expected to be footing an extra large bill this month - certainly an unwelcome stockingfiller.
Consumers are encouraged to switch service providers in order to find the best deal for their family, with uSwitch estimating that the average home could save up to £170 a year by changing from BT.
