Toucan offers 'all in one' bills

23 December 2005

Toucan, the consumer telecoms subsidiary of technology group IDT, has become the first firm to take advantage of Ofcom's decision to allow wholesale line rental (WLR), offering customers an all-in-one service for line rental, internet and mobile bills.

The cost of renting a phone line from Toucan currently stands at £9.99 a month, compared to BT's £11.

Toucan's announcement of integrated payment will come as bad news to industry giant BT, as Ofcom's ruling allows more and more small telecoms firms to offer competitive rates and all-in-one payment options to their customers.

Toucan's managing director Joseph Blass said: "Toucan customers can now receive the charges for their phone line rental, home calls, internet access and mobile phone, all conveniently listed on a single, easy-to-mange monthly bill."

The news came as a uSwitch survey showed that half of BT's customers believe they could be getting better value elsewhere.

Compare home telephone suppliers and save an average £170 a year.
