The Carphone Warehouse has said that it is struggling to keep up with demand from people wanting to sign up to its TalkTalk home phone offer, which includes free broadband.
Customers of the Free Broadband Forever offer also receive unlimited national calls and unlimited international calls to certain countries.
In his online web log, chief executive Charles Dunstone said that the company was receiving a huge amount of calls about the offer, but could not train new staff fast enough to cope with demand.
"We answer well over 20,000 calls per day now, which is up from around 7,000 per day before we launched Free Broadband Forever. There are now over 1,000 people working in the TalkTalk call centres and literally every week more people come on board and we answer more calls per day," he said.
"To my immense frustration even this huge increase in our capacity is still insufficient to keep up with interest, so I am afraid there are still queues to get through at most times of the day."
He thanked customers waiting to be connected with the service for their patience.
It is due to reveal the progress of its TalkTalk offer this week, when it unveils some statistics to the City.
