BT's chairman has said the company is quickly changing from old-fashioned telco firm to modern communications services provider.
At the company's annual general meeting, Sir Christopher Bland said the firm was responding to the demands of consumers in its development of an IPTV and improved broadband service to compliment its home phone deals.
He said BT would deliver "what millions of customers want – using the internet to make cheap international phone calls, or using the broadband network to deliver the BT Vision TV service later this year."
Consumers will be able to watch programmes when they want with BT Vision. Hundreds of shows will be available for download through the IP television service, due to launch in the autumn.
He described the last year as "excellent" from a financial view point, with revenues up by 6% to over £19.5 billion.
