First quad-play service on the way from ntl:Telewest

26 July 2006

The announcement by ntl:Telewest to offer a new 'quad-play' service has been welcomed by the online and phone based comparison and switching service uSwitch.

ntl:Telewest will offer the UK's first quad-play service from 1st September, and offer 'free' TV available to all new fixed line phone customers.

Commenting on the move, Chris Williams, telephony expert at uSwitch.com said: "ntl:Telewest has taken the communications market to a new level with a groundbreaking quad-play offer. They have begun to utilise the acquisition of Virgin Mobile by bundling the mobile service with their established landline, broadband and television services which simply cannot be matched in the market at the present time.

"At the same time, ntl:Telewest have introduced the first 'free' TV offer which gives new customers something else to think about when choosing from the growing array of bundle propositions."

He added that although ntl:Telewest was the first company to offer the quad-play service it would certainly not be long before others such as BT and Sky introduce similar competitive services.

Concluding, Mr Williams said: "Quad-play is another advancement in the rapidly changing communications market place and on the surface this looks like a great offer. However, it is currently difficult to establish the true benefits customers will gain until the specific details of the offering are confirmed before the launch on 1st September."
