TalkTalk boss responds to BT price changes

The head of the Carphone Warehouse, which offers the TalkTalk home phone and broadband packages, has said that BT will have to do better than its latest price cut if it wants to keep hold of its customers.

BT has reduced the tariffs on its Together Option 2 and Together Option 3 home phone packages.

"It's good to see that they're finally recognising how expensive they are but TalkTalk is and will always be better value than BT," said Charles Dunstone.

"Sorry BT, but you'll have to do better than this for your customers if you want to keep them."

Mr Dunstone also commented on Sky's entry into the broadband market. The satellite television supplier is giving all its TV subscribers the option of a free broadband connection.

"We welcome them to the small club of people really challenging the expensive existing broadband suppliers," he said.

"We do remain however the only mass market supplier of free broadband available without also subscribing to 'pay TV' or a mobile phone subscription."

TalkTalk was overwhelmed by interest in its broadband and home phone offer, which it launched earlier this year.
