New Digifone product offers cheaper calls

A new home networking product called the Digifone EL1 has been launched which offers consumers cheaper home phone bills.

It is billed as an economic solution for home networking and internet telephony and provides a residential or SOHO Network (LAN) Gateway function.

No PC or software program is required to utilise the product and consumers are able to use their home phone for VoIP calls.

The box sits between your phone, broadband and regular phone socket and routes your incoming calls as normal.

Digifone's EL1 costs £50 and means internet telephony using POTS Phone (FXS) and works in line with the key-telephone system or PBX.

The product is also compatible with H.323/SIP based terminals and has a quick 'plug and play' set-up facility as well as the option of updating firmware by remote access.
