Philips will launch its first ever Skype-enabled VoIP phone this November, according to reports.
The VOIP841 is Dect enabled - meaning it can make and receive standard telephone calls as well as Skype and SkypeOut - and will cost around £134.
Users can connect the home phone straight into their broadband service and through their Skype account can make free calls to anywhere in the world.
A Philips statement says: "DECT phones offer a superb sound quality. Just close your eyes and it's like your family and friends are standing next to you. Philips introduces ClearVoice HD for real-life sound quality and more emotion in every call you make."
Contacts can be viewed via a the handset's 65k screen and while the phone's base station is around the size of a wallet, the VoIP/Dect handset is wireless.
