The average revenue leakage across global telecoms operators has increased to 12.1% this year compared to 11.6% in 2005, according to new research.
Figures from Subex Azure in its annual Operator Attitudes to Revenue Assurance 2006 report are based upon the responses of over 100 worldwide operators.
Fraud was the largest area for revenue leakage for telecoms operators with 2.9% of revenue lost in this manner.
There were regional global differences also with losses in Europe and the Americas decreasing on past year's figures.
Subash Menon, Subex Azure CEO, said: "Reducing revenue leakage is a continuous exercise, as every time new products are launched or systems changed, there is the potential for fraud and revenue leakage.
"This year's research shows there is still plenty of work to do, however there are signs that operators are starting to be much more pro-active with regards to implementing revenue-assurance measures."
