Ofcom comments on telecoms review

19 October 2006

Ofcom has commented on the findings of its recent Strategic Review of Telecommunications.

Key conclusions from the report include the large commitment BT has shown in undertaking the recommendations made by Ofcom.

These include the formation of Openreach, the development of a new customer interfacing programme, new organisational structures implemented across the business and the establishment of the Equality of Access Board (EAB).

With regard to the telecoms market, the report found that UK customers for fixed telecoms services continue to see better services, more choice and a reduction of prices.

The report also showed early signs that communication providers are offering customers low cost bundled products with a wider range of broadband speeds while many residential consumers are satisfied with their fixed line and internet services.
