In a bid to make the humble home telephone as stylish as mobile phone handsets, BT has announced the launch of its sleek BT Reveal Phone.
This digital, cordless handset comes complete with a matching answer-machine and caller ID and even boasts the ability to receive and send text messages. Storing up to 30 messages in its inbox at any one time, the phone also features T9 predictive texting and the capability to store up to 255 contacts.
Other facets of this futuristic handset include polyphonic ringtones, handsfree technology, the ability to run up to five handsets - which can all be individually named - and a groovy blue downlight on the phone's base to indicate a new call, SMS or answering machine message.
The phone also possesses an impressive range, with a 50 metre indoor and a 300 metre outdoor range and a battery which allows for 10 hours' worth of talktime and 100 hours on standby.
