Novelty ringtones now available on your home phone

20 June 2007

The mobile phone ringtone market has gone through the roof in recent times and now, thanks to new technology from Home Phone Tunes novelty tones are being made available for landline phones too.

Speaking to channelweb.com, Kirk Cameron, Chief Executive at Home Phone Tunes, said the Ringboxx would revolutionise the way consumers viewed their landline phones.

"For more than a century, we have heard that 'ma bell' ring. Today people can choose to play an entertaining selection of ringtones or personalise ringtones to identify who is calling.

"There is now no reason to dash to the phone to answer a call that you are not interested in receiving."

The Ringboxx works by being connected to the home phone jack socket, with the accompanying software allowing users to download and buy the latest ringtones so that their ringer is always up to date.

Different ringtones can even be assigned for family and friends, allowing users to know who's calling them without even looking at the caller ID.

Online retailer Amazon has already pledged to stock the gadgets, which are due to arrive in store from this month. Though they are currently only available in America, it's thought that the Ringboxx's will become so popular that Amazon will stock them in the UK before long.
