BT launches own credit card

BT has revealed it is to launch a credit card that promises to lower consumers' phone or broadband bills every time it is used.

The home phone supplier and broadband provider's card could cut an account holder's phone bill by up to 75 per year.

Card users will have the opportunity to earn one pence for every 2 of purchases for the first 250 they spend on the card each month.

Customers using the card to buy over 250 of purchases per month will earn double the discount on their BT bill.

Account holders will also be able to transfer debt from other credit cards onto the BT card, subject to a 3% balance-transfer fee.

It also offers 0% pa on card purchases for three months, reverting to a typical rate of 16.9 per cent APR.

This is the first time BT has launched a financial product, following in the path of firms such as the AA and the Post Office who now offer credit cards.
