MIB: Car insurance fraud on the rise
Many drivers are oblivious to the risks involved with car insurance fraud, a new study reveals.

The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) discovered that fronting is a growing problem, where individuals give false information about who the main driver is.

However, when questioned by the body, 70% said they did not know what the term fronting means and a third of those who do understand it feel it is acceptable.

Ashton West, Chief Executive of the MIB, commented: "There is a significant degree of confusion amongst drivers about the importance of giving accurate information about the main driver to an insurer."

He added that car insurance policies should offer people peace of mind, so failing to provide accurate information could lead to penalties, fines or even prosecution.

Consumer Intelligence research recently found that consumers can reduce their premiums by up to 35% simply by shopping around.
