UK motorists 'supportive of scrappage scheme'
Research from uSwitch.com shows 25 million people would be accepting of the scheme, which has seen success in other countries such as Germany.
However, the research suggests that some motorists may be left disappointed as not everyone will be eligible for the cash.
"Whilst early indications suggest the scheme is working well in Germany ... the research has also indicated a desire by motorists to upgrade to a greener vehicle with lower emissions, which would also benefit the environment," comments Mark Monteiro, Insurance Expert at uSwitch.com.
Over half of the motorists questioned said the cash incentive would help them afford a new car, which needs to be kitted-out with car insurance using a website such as uSwitch.com.
Earlier this month, uSwitch.com revealed that 11 million energy customers have owed more than their meter suggested when it came to paying bills.
