<div class="rxbodyfield" xmlns:o="urn:www.microsoft.com/office" xmlns:st1="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags" xmlns:st2="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags2" xmlns:w="urn:www.microsoft.com/word" xmlns:x="urn:www.microsoft.com/excel"><p>Mobile company 3 has thrown down the gauntlet to other networks by launching 3 Like Home – which offers its customers calls and texts free of roaming charges in the countries where it owns a sister network.</p><p>From today, 3's users will no longer be charged extra for making or receiving calls or texts when visiting Italy, Australia, Hong Kong, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria.</p><p>Calls made from any of the seven countries back to the UK will now be included in the customers' monthly call allowance and after the quota has been exceeded, calls will cost 20 pence per minute.</p><p>Chief executive of 3, Robert Finnegan, said: "Customers on the old networks might be right in thinking Roam means 'Rip Off Anyone with a Mobile'."</p><p>Managing director of European telecommunications at 3, Christian Salbaing, added: "The launch of the 3 Like Home scheme will significantly benefit our customers as they travel between the 3 group's networks. </p><p>"It underlines our commitment to fair treatment and reasonable pricing for all our customers."</p><p>Mr Salbaing continued, saying that he hoped that the European Commission, who last year said it intended to enforce a capped rate on roaming charges, would stick to its declared intentions. </p><p>He concluded: "We hope the European Commission will be successful in significantly reducing these wholesale charges, which will allow price reductions for customers roaming between different operators within Europe."</p><p>What tariff should you choose?
