<div class="rxbodyfield" xmlns:o="urn:www.microsoft.com/office" xmlns:st1="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags" xmlns:st2="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags2" xmlns:w="urn:www.microsoft.com/word" xmlns:x="urn:www.microsoft.com/excel"><p>Mobile company 3 has thrown down the gauntlet to other networks by launching 3 Like Home &#8211; which offers its customers calls and texts free of roaming charges in the countries where it owns a sister network.</p><p>From today, 3&#39;s users will no longer be charged extra for making or receiving calls or texts when visiting Italy, Australia, Hong Kong, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria.</p><p>Calls made from any of the seven countries back to the UK will now be included in the customers&#39; monthly call allowance and after the quota has been exceeded, calls will cost 20 pence per minute.</p><p>Chief executive of 3, Robert Finnegan, said: &quot;Customers on the old networks might be right in thinking Roam means &#39;Rip Off Anyone with a Mobile&#39;.&quot;</p><p>Managing director of European telecommunications at 3, Christian Salbaing, added: &quot;The launch of the 3 Like Home scheme will significantly benefit our customers as they travel between the 3 group&#39;s networks. </p><p>&quot;It underlines our commitment to fair treatment and reasonable pricing for all our customers.&quot;</p><p>Mr Salbaing continued, saying that he hoped that the European Commission, who last year said it intended to enforce a capped rate on roaming charges, would stick to its declared intentions. </p><p>He concluded: &quot;We hope the European Commission will be successful in significantly reducing these wholesale charges, which will allow price reductions for customers roaming between different operators within Europe.&quot;</p><p>What tariff should you choose?
