Mobiles cleared of causing cancer

<div class="rxbodyfield" xmlns:o="urn:www.microsoft.com/office" xmlns:st1="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags" xmlns:st2="urn:www.microsoft.com/smarttags2" xmlns:w="urn:www.microsoft.com/word" xmlns:x="urn:www.microsoft.com/excel"><p>Good news for all mobile phone users this week, as researchers now believe that using mobile phones does not cause cancer.</p><p>Results of a recent study that has been published in the latest edition of the US Journal of the National Cancer Institute, claim that even after 21 years of using a mobile phone, consumers are at no higher risk of developing any form of cancer.</p><p>Danish researchers from the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Copenhagen analysed over 56,000 mobile phone users who had used their phone for at least a decade, inspired from a report written by the Institute of Cancer Research earlier this year.</p><p>&quot;We found no evidence for an association between tumour risk and cellular telephone use among either short-term or long-term users,&quot; said Christoffer Johansen, who led the study.</p><p>Professor Tricia McKinney, from the centre for epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Leeds, welcomed the study, telling the Independent: &quot;The large numbers of subscribers in the study mean we can have some confidence in the results that have not linked mobile use to a risk of any cancer, including brain tumours.&quot;</p><p>Josephine Querido, cancer information officer at Cancer Research UK, added: &quot;Research like this is the only way we can reliably know whether factors in our environment cause cancer. </p><p>&quot;This study adds to the growing evidence that there is no link between mobile phones and cancer, although we still don&#39;t know about the very long-term effects of mobile phone use.&quot;</p><p>For a great deal on your mobile phone, uSwitch.com can help.
