Mobile phone books have taken over our lives with 69% of consumers unable to remember just five friends' telephone numbers.
On average, consumers store over 80 phone numbers into their address books. Despite this, 59% of mobile phone users fail to write those contact details down anywhere else, meaning that they are liable to lose them if their phone is broken or stolen.
The figures were obtained by mobile backup service ZYB, which has just launched a free over-the-air service for British consumers to store their phone contacts, as well as providing a medium for sharing and transferring contact details.
Speaking to tech.co.uk, Chief Executive Officer of ZYB Tommy Ahlers said: "The majority of us only memorise a small fraction of the numbers we store on our phone. With this in mind, it's no wonder people dread losing their mobile handset more than any other electronic device."
