Download phrase books onto your mobile

3 May 2007

Lastminute.com has joined together with mobile content developer CoolGorilla to produce language phrase books which consumers can download onto their mobile phone.

Ideal for the frequent traveller, the service will make ordering a beer, booking a room in a hotel or reading a menu as easy as downloading a ringtone.

In addition, since the phrase book is on your phone, it can speak the phrase to you, thereby avoiding any embarrassment at mispronouncing the phrase.

Mark McCulloch, Head of Brand Development at lastminute.com, commented: "This is truly a breakthrough in being smart on holiday. Instead of you having to flick through the pages of a phrase book to find what you want to say, you simply click your phone menu, select the phrase you need and voila!"

Roy Forsdick from CoolGorilla added: "The mobile phone is the perfect platform for people to use this sort of application as people carry their mobiles with them at all times. In fact it makes such intuitive sense for people to use talking phrasebooks on their mobile phone that I am amazed no-one has developed anything like this before."

Currently, there are six languages available; French, Spanish, German, Greek, Italian and Portuguese. Each phrase book is tailored for certain situations, covering everything from flirting to eating in a restaurant.
