Vodafone has finally launched its new mobile web service in the UK, which allows greater use of the internet on mobile phones.
And the service comes amid a new flat-rate charging structure, which is aimed at encouraging more people to sign up for the system.
The Vodafone Live! service incorporates a new technology, which allows users to view web pages on their mobile more easily than before, by reconfiguring the pages for handheld devices.
Vodafone claims that some ten million of its customers already own or use the new third-generation phones and that there is a huge market for people wishing to access the 'true' internet wherever they are.
The firm is set to charge contract customers 7.50 per month for a version of the service with a 120mb limit, although will no longer charge customers added rates for surfing the net outside of its own Vodafone Live! portal.
However, the current system does not have the full ability of the internet yet - Vodafone's version of YouTube for instance only has a tiny percentage of the videos available on the fixed line site.
