O2 has announced that its network will host the first interactive comedy show especially developed for mobile phones.
Taking the form of a light-hearted panel show - and hosted by Virgin Radio star Christian O'Connell - the new comedy programme will be called If an Alien Came to Earth.
Panellists will be asked how our planet can be best represented to an extraterrestrial visitor - who, for some unearthly reason, sports a flame-coloured poncho and oven gloves for hands.
A special interactive forum has also been opened for O2 users to leave comments and to suggest ideas for future shows.
Head of Content at O2 UK Grahame Riddell said that the popularity of quiz shows Have I Got News for You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks inspired If an Alien Came to Earth.
"We are now taking this format to the mobile phone with a specially tailored show which we are sure will be popular with our customers," he added.
Managing Director at show producers USP Content Dominic Smales commented: "This project highlights the increasing need for bespoke made-for-mobile content and If an Alien Came to Earth is a superb example of what we can achieve on the small screen."
