A new Skype-enabled mobile phone has been launched by telecoms firm 3.
The new handset will be the first to be adapted for the popular free online telephony service - which offers users free online calls.
However, users will have to pay more for the new 3 service when calling non-Skype numbers on their handset than they would at their computer - although inter-Skype calls remain free.
Acting Chief Executive of Skype Michael van Swaajj said: "Skype began by offering free PC to PC calling and now we're doing the same with mobile calls with 3. Thanks to 3, Skype has now taken a giant step forward in the mobile arena.
"It takes an innovative operator like 3 to challenge traditional thinking and offer the kind of product other operators are still shying away from."
Chief Executive of 3 UK Kevin Russell added: "Services need to be simple to access and affordable…mobile has the potential to massively increase access to internet calling."
Skype is one of the most popular internet services worldwide - with an estimated 246 million global users.
The 3 Skype phone is launched in the UK on Sunday.
