The BBC is to relaunch its website for mobile users, with the main intention of offering improved services to sports fans.
According to the broadcaster, the fresh version of the site will take advantage of improvements in technology so that the screen will include more colour.
Controller of BBC Mobile Matthew Postgate claimed that this is a "critical moment" in the history of mobile at the operator and that it has to keep up with the times.
"In the coming months, our mobile proposition will develop significantly, and include coverage of the summer's biggest sport events including Euro 2008, the Beijing Olympics and Wimbledon," he commented.
As part of the changes, a marketing drive has been launched that will see targeted advertising towards fans at football matches with them being asked to text for a link to the portal.
Recently, the BBC also revamped its homepage website, allowing users to choose where items appear on the page.
