The mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) market is currently failing because service providers are not offering the correct products, it has been suggested.
Forrester Research Principal Analyst Phil Sayer claimed that no bundles are available on mobile VoIP and this means that the benefits for users have dried up, as reported by the Financial Times.
"The mobile operators aren't offering bundles for VoIP; they're positively trying to make it go away," he told the publication.
And in many cases, he added, mobile firms even try to block VoIP traffic but that "sooner or later the dam will burst because you can't defend that kind of position indefinitely".
Industry Analyst for Enterprise Communications at Frost & Sullivan Shomik Banerjee also noted that demand for services that could be easier with VoIP - such as conferencing - has ebbed and flowed.
Telephone bills can be slashed with the use of VoIP services, Fergal Barry-Murphy recently argued on moneyhighstreet.com.
