Searching on mobile telephones is likely to become a large aspect of the industry in the years ahead, according to new findings.
ABI Research stated that a number of opportunties will be available for firms who wish to advertise via these means, with the industry worth an estimated $5 billion (£2.5 billion) in five years.
But those operating in this sector should be warned that a good deal of planning needs to be pumped into search advertising, suggested director at the firm Michael Wolf.
He told the news source: "Given the constraints of mobile platforms and the specific needs of mobile users, mobile search services and the integration of advertising need to be thought out carefully by branded providers, white-label search vendors and carriers."
And a number of providers including Google and Yahoo already understand that these capabilities are vital as a greater number of consumers take up mobile searching, Mr Wolf added.
Carphone Warehouse this week claimed that it had been successful during a "slower" retail environment seen recently.
